Inhale Exhale Yes that will do

When did life get so busy? How can I slow it down?

Imagine for a moment that you are way up above earth looking down at us Human Beings. What would you see? I imagine it would look like millions of ants racing about. How comical must we look, all scurrying about our VERY IMPORTANT business. Have you ever wondered - what is it all about? Are we randomly plonked on this earth for a lifetime of however long - 50, 70, 90 years - to scurry around, achieve this, achieve that - then just leave this life again? That doesn't seem to make much sense? So why are we here?

Finding the answers to these questions are your own self discovery and it starts with becoming more conscious in your daily life, the breath is a wonderful tool to use for this. To simply stop and connect with one long slow breath, takes you out of the unconscious state of 'doing', and suddenly you are aware and conscious and 'being'. After all you are a Human Being, not a Human Doing.

THE ONE MINUTE BREATH BREAK
Try this right now:

Close your eyes.
INHALE - in through your nose. Long, slow, smooth - for the count of 5.
HOLD - hold your breath for the count of 3.
EXHALE - out through your mouth, even slower. Feel your shoulders relax and completely let go.
Breath naturally and pause here for 30 seconds. Become intensely aware of this moment. Feel still and completely present.

Now open your eyes.

One deep breath like this is all it takes to stop the madness of unconsciously rushing about, and get it all in perspective. It can help extract you from being completely lost in the muck and meyer of the day, and rise above it so you can get a broader view of your life. When you are present and aware, time definitely slows down, because you're not lost in the doing, you're actually consciously experiencing life, minute by minute. When you imagine that scenario of looking down on earth, many of the things that seemed so important, suddenly don't matter so much.

Maybe we're all missing the point in our striving each day. What are we striving for anyway? Maybe there's much more to this journey than we realise. Try the 'One Minute Breath Break' several times throughout your day, and discover for yourself how these regular breath breaks can not only slow time down, but also bring presence, calm, mindfulness, insights... and a much much deeper life experience. So simple, yet so powerful.
