The Peptalk Mental Wellbeing Foundation is a registered charity dedicated to enhancing mental wellbeing now and transforming the future of mental health in New Zealand.
Our Kaupapa
To help people to help themselves by making the science-based skills that build mental wellbeing accessible to all. Our resources and events deliver these impactful skills in an engaging format, to inspire people to apply this knowledge, to build wellbeing and resilience, to protect against mental illness, and to save lives.
We empower vulnerable kiwis with the skills for wellbeing
Grants and sponsors allow us to provide PEPTALK Magazine as a wellbeing resource to in-need groups and vulnerable people in NZ communities.
We empower kids & teens by supporting schools to teach wellbeing
Research tells us that arming kids & teens with the tools to positively manage their thoughts and emotions and science-based strategies to build mental wellbeing protects them against mental illness. Schools are positive learning environments that can promote the skills for wellbeing in powerful ways. We believe that supporting the teaching community with training and resources is the best way we can influence future change.
Proceeds from the sale of our magazine, products and events promote and support the important work of teaching these skills to our young people.
We believe that the current state of mental health has presented an opportunity to create the most self aware, self empowered generation ever! And it is our intention to grasp this opportunity to secure a bright and happy future for beautiful Aotearoa.
We are taking an upstream protective approach to breaking and reversing the negative cycle of mental health in NZ.

I so admire the work that PEPTALK media is doing to grow ‘Wellbeing Literacy’ nationally. Nadine and her team are committed to helping people understand wellbeing and resilience better so they can help themselves and those they care about. Their magazine is jam-packed with tools, all of which are evidence-based but practical enough to use in every day life.”

We can not force someone to hear a message they are not ready to hear,
or to take positive action for their own good, but never underestimate the power of planting a seed.

IMPACT TWO : TRANSFORM THE FUTURE OF MENTAL HEALTH
Positive Education in-schools - mental wellbeing approaches backed by research, to empower children and teens.
Imagine a New Zealand where children grow up with the ability to self manage their thoughts and emotions and direct them in positive and constructive ways . Imagine if they developed this skill so intrinsically that as they grow into teens and adults, no matter what challenges they face, or what negativity surrounds them, they can assert this ability to engage a high level of self control, to choose happier and healthier thoughts and actions, and ultimately create more positive and productive outcomes in their lives.
That's resilience! That's empowerment! And research demonstrates we CAN teach kids this!
The science, the expertise, and the programmes exist to teach current and future generations the mindset strategies and mental tools to live positive, fulfilling lives.
Evidence is the loudest voice.
Hundreds of scientific studies, involving hundreds of thousands of students in schools around the world, who have been engaged in Positive Education programmes demonstrate that:
1. It IS possible to teach the skills for wellbeing, and...
2. When we do: wellbeing improves, academic achievement improves, and incidences and severity of mental illness decreases.

FUTURE VISION
Looking ahead, other initiatives we would plan to invest in include:
IGNITE THE SPARK
TEEN EMPOWERMENT SPEAKER SERIES
Inside each teenager there is a spark, just waiting for the right words to ignite it! Part of our future vision is to bring top youth speakers from within NZ, and around the world (when possible) to speak in our High Schools and deliver powerful messages : kindness, self respect, the power of living a purpose-lead life, self empowerment, and more. The purpose of these dynamic speaking tours is to ignite the spark within our young people and to demonstrate that anything is possible with the right mindset.
INVEST IN SUCCESS
Help already successful youth groups, clubs and initiatives reach more, do more, impact more.
Right now, all around New Zealand there are awesome groups, clubs and initiatives that support, uplift, and change the lives of children & teens. While this is encouraging and inspiring, sadly with every success story, there is a common theme - lack of funds. We aim to boost existing successful initiatives by donating funds to help them do more, reach more, and impact more.
We are committed to creating a happier future for New Zealand by funding high impact initiatives to empower children and teens. Thank you for your support.
