Last Monday was the half-way mark for 2024.
In last week's Peptalk we faced up to a harsh truth :
If you aren’t where you want to be, it's because you didn't make the choices and take the daily actions that would lead you there.
You, today, are the manifestation of your past daily micromoment choices and actions.

You may well accept the above truth.
But that doesn't mean it's easy to apply it!
The fact is >>
Doing something that you don't want to do or that feels hard or painful now, for a reward that you'll receive at some point in the future is DAMN HARD!
or/
Resisting the urge to do something you really do want to do now, but that's detrimental to a reward that you'll receive at some point in the future is DAMN HARD!
It's helpful to remind yourself that the pain or discomfort you're feeling in the process of pursuing a goal is NORMAL.
Pain, discomfort, struggle >>> are the price of admission for any kind of success.
Pain, discomfort, struggle are the hidden costs of public rewards.

This is what it feels
like to get better.
I came across this Mantra last week in a post by author Nir Eyal.
I've been saying this mantra regularly every day for the last week in the pursuit of sticking to the daily actions I know will move me closer to what I want to achieve and who I want to become.
It's been super helpful!
It's helped me many times to overcome, or even ENJOY, the pain and discomfort of doing hard things.
So I had to share it.
This mantra is a reminder that >
Whatever the discomfort you're experiencing as the result of :
IS WHAT IT FEELS LIKE TO MAKE PROGRESS.
It's not only normal to feel this discomfort >> It is necessary!
Celebrate the fact that you're experiencing this discomfort >> The very presence of it means you're taking a step in the right direction.
I love this mantra so much, it's been a game-changer for me in the last week.
It's definitely staying as a tool in my "self discipline arsenal".
YOUR ACTION ITEM #1
Repeat these words: "This is what it feels like to get better", any time you're experiencing discomfort about doing something hard or unwanted in pursuit of a desired longer-term outcome.
